Greg Myles – Cover Common

COVER COMMON

With the weather looking prime and the harvest moon phase in full swing, Greg Myles headed to his ‘Northey Park’ syndicate to see if one of the real gems of the lake would appear. Greeted with a quiet lake, Greg spent the next two hours finding both fish and likely looking cleaned off spots. With all his traps set using ‘The Formula + Arctic Crab’ boilie in 12mm and 15mm, all he had to do now was pray that the fish found them before the dreaded swans!

Just on first light, his long rod signalled a take, stripping line off a tight clutch. The fish had one idea and it was that it wanted to reach the sanctuary of a large set of lily pads. Greg took to the boat to see what he could rescue from such a violent take. After what seemed an age working his line around the lily pads, a huge common popped up and was in the net first time of asking. The common in question is one of ‘Northey Parks’ old guards and a real gem, a fish known as the ‘Cover Common’. A fish that Greg thought might have been an impossible task to catch with it being such a rare visitor to the bank.
