“Generally speaking I try to avoid trips to France in the height of summer, but this year – having had to re-arrange a couple of last years’ sessions – I was stuck with it.”
“RG’s very own Chuck and I headed off to Luke Moffatt’s Graviers fishery on the third week of July and armed ourselves with 18 mm and 22 mm Red Sea Squid boilies and a small quantity of hemp seed. To the best of our knowledge The Graviers hadn’t seen the Squid before, but – having seen what it was capable of first time out on Carplantis in Holland a few weeks earlier – confidence was high.
As the long range forecast has predicted, conditions were far from ideal; the vast majority of the week being very hot, breathless and altogether oppressive, with no break in the high pressure due until late in week.”
“It was never going to be a prolific week in such conditions and a fish apiece must go down as a success; Chuck managing a rather striking mid-thirty and yours truly, having one take out of the blue, that produced a 63lb mirror.”
