Tony Payne

| January 01 0001

I first met Tony Payne on the banks of Northey Park, and it didn’t take long to realise he was someone special in his own right. From the very first conversation, his passion for angling was undeniable, but it doesn’t stop there. The outdoors and photography run just as deeply through Tony’s veins, shaping not only how he fishes, but how he sees the world around him.

There’s an infectious enthusiasm about Tony. Spend any amount of time in his company and you can’t help but feel inspired, whether it’s his attention to detail behind the lens, his appreciation for nature, or his unwavering dedication to the craft of carp fishing.

What I admire most, though, is that Tony doesn’t follow the crowds. He walks his own path, deliberately seeking out lesser-known venues, the hidden gems that often go unnoticed. For him, it’s never been about chasing popularity or numbers. It’s about discovery, experience, and uncovering waters that hold truly incredible carp, whatever their size.

Tony’s journey is his own, guided by passion, authenticity, and a genuine love for the pursuit, and that’s exactly what makes him stand out.

• Job Title: Greenkeeper

• Location: Cambridgeshire

• Favorite RG Product: Without doubt the mighty club Tropicana hook baits. Pretty much most of my best captures have came out to these little beauties, always seemingly picking out the bigger fish. Especially in the spring!

They smell mouthwateringly great too!

• Most Memorable Capture: Northey parks crater. Loved everything about this capture. The build up, the anticipation, the moment. Everything about it was special.

• Favorite Venue: A little Lilypad covered syndicate, Local to me, and will always be close to my heart. Being my first ever syndicate I joined way back. It’s changed over the years, but still a special little lake.
